Do no harm. That is the only rule that matters.

Charismatic people on t.v. and social media make this weird thinking seem normal.
Thinking this way can lead to bad things, like ignoring physical needs, yelling, using so much physical restraint that the pet is treated like an object, and even injuries.
Accidents happen. That’s different from damage done by forcing “compliance”.
Vets have meds that do no harm. A mildly-sedated cat is better off than a scared cat.
